DeWine, Catherine "Cathy", age 73, of Spring Valley, passed away Saturday, February 16th, 2019 in Xenia, Ohio. She was born February 21st, 1945 to Ruth (Fudge) and Donald Finlay. She attended Xenia High School and earned an Associates Degree in Psychology from Sinclair Community College in Dayton.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, John: her daughter Lori DeWine (Will Everingham) of Kettering and son Sean (Robin) of Spring Valley; grandchildren Aaron Hatley (Maggie Gates) and Megan Mantia; great-grandchild Ellie; and her sister Joan Smith of Beavercreek.

Cathy and John lived most of their lives in Spring Valley where Cathy was the elected Clerk and Treasurer for many years until her retirement in 2007 She loved to make quilts and crochet blankets for her family and friends. Cathy played the dulcimer, but could be found listening to music of all kinds. She was an active and dedicated member of St. Francis, where she served in many ministries over the years. With John and her children, Cathy loved to travel, especially taking cruises and camping. She also loved the time spent with her grandchildren, who when young, proclaimed her, ‘the best cinnamon toast maker in the world.’”

To help the family celebrate her life, you are invited to share during her visitation Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Conner & Koch Life Celebration Home, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, OH 45459, with burial to follow at Spring Valley Cemetery in Spring Valley, OH.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Brookdale Hospice Dayton, 2621 Dryden Rd #204, Moraine, OH 45439. You are welcome to send a condolence, plant a tree and share a story or picture about Cathy at by clicking on her name.
