Obituary

Caring and kind, humble and helpful, neighborly and ornery, are just a few words to describe Ethel Luedtke. She was born November 13, 1924 in Eubank, Kentucky to Annie (Ferris) and Williard B. Brown.

As a young couple, Ethel and Erwin set their sights on building a home and soon a family. Ethel was an amazing mother and always the soft disciplinarian who balanced Erwin's strong personality. This balance extended to the grandchildren who annually colored Easter eggs. Unbeknownst to Erwin, she would let the kids sneak a peek while he was hiding the eggs in the yard.

Ethel was a member of Faith Baptist Church for more than 35 years. Today, she stands in the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ!

Ethel retired from Sugarcreek Schools in 1988 after working 21 years in the cafeteria, where she formed many relationships with the students. In her retirement years, she enjoyed filling her days with jigsaw puzzles, word search books and telephoning friends and family. Ethel made many good friends during her time living at Quaker Heights and enjoyed participating in the activities. She held several records for her cornhole and BINGO skills. Ethel received numerous honors as the Monthly Champion.

Ethel went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3rd, 2020 at Quaker Heights in Waynesville. She was 95.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wanda Warren and Margaret Blankenship; four brothers, Virgil, Carl, Paul, and Fred Brown; and her husband of 57 years, Erwin.

Ethel is survived by two daughters, Barbara Cwirka of Centerville, and Karen (Jeff) Frantz of Bellbrook; son Daniel Luedtke of Vandalia; six grandchildren, Michelle (Rodney Butcher), Jason Luedtke (Brandi), Adrianne (Eric Tindall), Brad Luedtke (Kayla), Robert Frantz (Ashley), and Dana Frantz; six great-grandchildren, Morgan (Galveston Suazo), Logan & Cameron Butcher, Jaxson & Cooper Frantz, and Lincoln Tindall.

You are invited to join the family to celebrate her life on Saturday February 8th, beginning with a gathering at Faith Baptist Church, 4215 Indian Ripple Rd., Beavercreek, from 11:00 am until the time of her life celebration at 1:00 pm.
A procession will follow to Mt. Zion Park Cemetery.

Her children, grandchildren, as well as many others, will remember her true character and how wonderful she was as a person and role model. To them, she was an anchor in many storms, always had a kind word, and always pointed them to Jesus as their source of strength!

You are welcome to send a condolence or share a story about Ethel here on her Online Book of Memories.

Barbara, Karen and Dan your Mother was our Mother’s best friend at Quaker Heights. The two of them had so much in common. We know Ethel was a great source of strength for Mom when our Dad passed away. Ethel and Mom enjoyed listening to gospel music of the evening. They also enjoyed talking and doing crafts. We can’t say enough wonderful things about Ethel. Heaven has gained a special lady.
