Obituary

Obituary for Robert L. Wakeley

A loyal and honest, ornery and giving man with an abundance of integrity, Robert L. Wakeley, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday April 15th, 2020. He was 86.

Robert was born on April 4, 1934 in Xenia, Ohio to Leila (Dakin) and Thurman Wakeley. He was a 1954 graduate of Wilbur Wright High School. He was inducted into the Wilbur Wright High School's Hall of Fame in 2014 for his athletic talents in football and basketball. He was a member of the Millennium Masonic Lodge, Dayton, the Shriner's of Dayton, the Milton Athletic Club and the Walnut Grove Country Club. Before retiring, he was the President/Owner of Tramco Mold, Inc. in Beavercreek for 33 years.

Robert considered himself a professional gin player and wagered his skills with various family and friends. He was a competitive man and loved the game of golf. In his competitive spirit, he also was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Dayton Flyers. Robert also enjoyed traveling, especially to Acapulco with his family. He will also be fondly remembered for his colorful metaphors, particularly while watching television.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol Jean Wakeley (2015), son Robert "Bobby" Wakeley (2019), and grandson Daniel Folz (2019). He is survived by his two daughters, Cindy Wakeley (John Campbell), Pam Folz (Howard); five grandchildren, Bradley Wright, Elizabeth Schmittou (Brian), Amanda Wakeley, Robby Wakeley, and Laura Wakeley; and eight great-grandchildren, Claire, Drew, Noah, Adalynn, Bentley, Nathan, Brooklynn, and Lilly.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday, April 20th at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville.

Because of COVID-19 and the social distancing that is mandated, we would implore you to send a condolence, plant a tree and share a story or picture about Robert here on his Online Book of Memories to help comfort the family.

Heartfelt Sympathies

I knew Bob almost my whole life. He married my beautiful cousin, Carol, when I was 9 years old. So many good memories. Condolences and love to all.
