Obituary for Shirley Jean Barr (Stegall)

Barr, Shirley Jean, age 72, of Bellbrook, passed away Sunday, January 9th, 2022 in Bellbrook.

She was born on on May 29, 1949 to Delma L. (Prater) and Virgil H. Stegall, and was very close to her siblings and enjoyed talking on the phone with Rachel and Sharon the most, hours as her family fondly remembers.

Shirley earned an Associates Degree as a medical assistant as well as enjoyed studying medical books on her own. She worked at NDM (New Dimensions of Medicine) 1979 to 2000, where she met Richard Albert Barr.

She loved the lord and her savior. She was Pentecostal, and attended the Branch of the Vine and other Pentecostal churches over the years including the "Pillar church". In her later years she was faithful in watching church services on her television and studied the Bible at home on her own.

While Shirley loved her Lord first, it was her family that she also loved unconditionally. She showed them her love, and how to live, with playing the guitar, singing “You are my Sunshine, her crocheting, and her faith.

She is Preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Jeffrey H. Stegall, Rachel P. Sanford, Christy M. Butler. Shirley is survived by her husband of 42 years, Richard A. Barr; her Children: Linda S. Benson-Jones, Julia A. Holley (Shawn), James G. Benson, Jr. (Shelley), and Richard Alan Barr "Buddy"; grandchildren: Joshua M. Lewis (Wendy), Adam L. Boggs, Robert Kaleb Pasley, Kyle J. Benson (Jenn), Tylor A. Pasley (Bethany), Alysha D. Benson, Samantha J. Young, Hayley L. Benson, Brittany Wood, Cory Wood, and Tessa K. Holley; Great Grandchildren: Trinity M. Pasley, Dallas K. Pasley, Kasen T. Pasley, Lillian M. Lewis, Dorian R. Benson, Kyrin A. Pasley, Khloe E. Pasley, Felicity N. Hatton, Kaelyn G. Benson, and Stiles S. Hatton; her sister Sharon K. Whittington (Bill), And multiple other family members, friends that she adored and loved.

A wife, a mother, a grandma, and great grandma too, this is the legacy we have from you. You taught us love and how to fight, You gave us strength, you gave us might. A stronger person would be hard to find, and in your heart, you were always kind. You fought for us all in one way or another, not just as a wife, not just as a mother. For all of us you gave your best, now the time has come for you to rest. So go in peace, you've earned your sleep. Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep.

To help the family celebrate her life, you are invited to a visitation at Conner & Koch Life Celebration Home (92 W. Franklin St. Bellbrook, Ohio 45305) on Saturday, January 15th, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with her Life Celebration Services to begin at 1:00pm. Burial to follow immediately afterward at Middle Run Cemetery.
