Anthony J. "Tony" Giambrone

A patient, kind, gentle and calm husband, dad, and papa, Anthony J. "Tony" Giambrone, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at his home. Tony was 83. He was born on June 13, 1936 in Utica, New York to his parents, Vincent and Domenica (Sardina) Giambrone, one of two boys. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division Band, where he played the trumpet. He was a talented musician and continued to enjoy playing the trumpet and the guitar throughout his life. Tony started his career in the mailroom and continued to advance to retire as the top civilian at W.P.A.F.B. Besides his family, Tony's passion was photography. He enjoyed doing weddings and other celebrations, as well as developing the moments himself that he caught on camera. Because of his love for photography and his church, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, he was honored to be on a committee to improve and re-create photos of the history of St. Francis. Being from New York, Tony was an avid Yankees fan, who as a youngster would take the train and a lunch to the stadium to watch his beloved team. Since attending Oklahoma University and then living in Ohio for the last 50 years, he also was a fan of the Sooners as well as the Buckeyes, Reds and Bengals. Tony was also a very fervent reader, reading all kinds of books of various authors. And of course, he loved all things Italian...Italian food, opera's, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, and Andrea Bocelli. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, son Anthony J. Giambrone, Jr., brother Joe Giambrone, and sister-in-law Sandra Noti. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Antoinette "Annette" (Talerico) Giambrone, whom he met at a wedding where he was best man and she was a bridesmaid. Tony is also survived by his daughter Alisa Pauley (Scott); two granddaughters Erica Hopkins and Nicole Giambrone, all of Bellbrook; one brother Jack Giambrone (Devina) of Utica, New York; brother-in-law James Talerico of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Annette's brother-in-law Sonny Noti of Utica, New York. Because of COVID-19 and the social distancing that is mandated, we would implore you to send a condolence, plant a tree and share a story or picture about Tony here on his Online Book of Memories to help comfort the family. There will be a Private Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Brian Phelps officiating. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, Ohio 45459.
