Once when we were visiting Sonny (that’s what I know him as) and Donna at Dale Hollow, he told my then 8yr. old son that he was going snipe hunting. He told Tristan that you can only catch them at night and of course he made them sound like mysterious creatures. My son was so excited to go on the hunt and when the time came they gathered up coffee cans, nets and flash lights and set off through the trailer park. After a while they were back with no snipes, my son was very disappointed and Uncle Sonny was laughing as he explained there was no such thing, lol. Apparently it was a long-standing family tradition to teach the young ones about “snipe hunting “. I’ll never forget Uncle Sonny laughing and giggling like a little boy over his mischief. Meanwhile, my son wasn’t quite as amused 😂 We spent a lot of hours just floating in the warm lake water with Uncle Sonny and Aunt Donna and again in later years when they would come and visit us in Florida. I will miss them both . Tracy Roberts
