Betty Mae Bowles
87, wife of deceased Pastor Wayne Bowles, passed away Thurs. Jan. 16, 2014 at Heartland of Beavercreek. She was born Feb. 20, 1926 in Oklahoma City, OK to Stella May (Brightwell) and Theodore G. Albright. Betty Mae was a friend of many, having lived in the Dayton area for several years. Rev. & Mrs. Bowles were originally from Oklahoma City. They came to the Dayton area in 1964 to pastor at East Park Church of God, and then, for many years at the Sidney First Church of God. Following a fruitful ministry there, they moved back to Dayton where they served as Associate Pastor Emeritus of the Kettering First Church of God. Betty Mae was quite gifted in music, singing in groups and playing the organ and piano. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Wayne Bowles and their only child, Barbara Spurling. A time of visiting and fellowship will be held Monday, January 20th from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at Conner and Koch Funeral Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook (937-848-6651.) Pastor Howard M. Briggs will officiate. Burial in Bellbrook Cemetery. John and Jean Williams, dear friends of the Bowles have cared for the Bowles family for many years during each of their sicknesses. Their efforts were deeply appreciated by the Bowles and are admired by all who knew the Bowles. Betty Mae and Pastor Wayne touched many lives for Christ and will be truly missed.
