Caleigh Faith Hildebrandt's Obituary
Caleigh Faith Hildebrandt
Age 24, passed away Wednesday, Oct 5, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, running into the arms of Jesus. She was born July 27,1993 in Salt Lake City, UT, the daughter of Randy and Bonnie (Throne). Caleigh graduated from Bellbrook High School in 2012. She was a member of Christ’s Church in Bellbrook where she loved to sing in the praise and worship band and teach the children in Children’s Church. She loved people, hugs, puppies, and coloring. Caleigh loved to go to her job with her mother and she loved running with her Dad. She was an employee at McGohan Brabender where she was the Chief Happiness Officer (CHO), reporting directly to the founder and original CEO, Pat McGohan. She was a two-time finisher of the USAF Marathon and has the two medals to prove it. Caleigh was an honorary member of the Bellbrook Optimist Club and was a leading supporter of Avenue of the Flags charity initiative which helps place our American Flag throughout our community.
Caleigh touched everyone she ever met. Born with Spina Bifida and limited to a wheel chair, she faced, with great courage, every obstacle that stood in her way. Over the years she underwent more than 40 surgeries, some of which where her life was on the line. She was blessed with incredible medical care from her friends at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center where they helped her conquer the difficulties with Spina Bifida and to cope with the disappointing cancer diagnosis she received just last year. Her perseverance in her young life was highlighted with the national 'No Excuses" award she was given by Kyle Maynard, the ESPY award-winning college wrestler and MMA athlete, at the gala Cinderella's Ball in Washington D.C. in 2010. She loved serving others and was widely recognized for her famous phrase, “Life is tough but life is good!”. Her boss labeled her “Little Miss Sunshine”, and it stuck. The many accomplishments and out-reach of "Little Miss Sunshine” touched people all over the world. She was published multiple times by her favorite newspaper sports writer and friend, Tom Archdeacon of the Dayton Daily News.
Caleigh is survived by her mother and father, Bonnie (Throne) and Randy of Bellbrook, OH; brother and sister-in-law, R.J. and Miranda (Hodge) of Kettering, OH; brother, Tyler of Bellbrook, OH; paternal grandparents; Wilfried and Priscilla Hildebrandt (Eichenlaub) of Ypsilanti, MI; maternal grandmother, Mary Throne (Couch) of Ypsilanti, MI; and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Leo Throne of Ypsilanti, MI.
