Cathie Marion Lewis' Obituary
LEWIS, Cathie Marion, age 92, of Bellbrook, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Miami Valley Hospital-South.
Cathie was born November 15, 1932, in Tuscola, Michigan. She grew up on her family farm and always kept her country-girl personality. Her love of pets grew from a young age with all the animals on the farm. As she got older, she especially loved dogs and had several Yorkies and Setters. She graduated from Vassar High School, class of ’51. For 15 years, she was a postal clerk in Springfield for USPS until retiring in the ’90s. She attended St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Centerville.
A strong-willed and hardworking woman, she instilled those same traits in her family. She loved her family and looked forward to the holidays when she cooked large spreads of food for everyone to enjoy. She kept to herself and found peace in just staying at home. One of her favorite hobbies was watching soap operas and game shows, the Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy being some of her favorites. Cathie had a passion for reading and usually always had a stack of romance novels that she was reading. She was an avid snowbird with her husband and regularly went to Myrtle Beach every year from November to March. She was very good at growing plants and was well known for her green thumb in her rose garden. Among many things, she was very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren, and her strong work ethic.
Cathie was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn E. Lewis, in 2017; one daughter, Debbie Lewis-Bricker; granddaughter, Jennifer Beilert; her parents, Anthony and Catherina Toyzan; and three brothers, Michael, Andy, and Tony Toyzan. She is survived by her two sons, Daniel Lewis and David Lewis; one daughter, Diane (Doug) Beilert; brother that she raised and treated like a son, Larry (Kathy) Miller; five grandchildren, Justin Bricker, Laura Bricker, Zeke (Stacey) Lewis, Alyssa (Adam) Forbes, and Sara Beilert; two great-grandchildren, Oliver “Oli” Forbes and one on-the-way; and one brother, Charles “Chuck” (Nancy) Toyzan.
