Cathy Hull's Obituary
Catherine "Cathy" Ann Hull, age 69, of Oakwood, passed away on Sunday, June 4th, 2023, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born on April 30th, 1954 to Edward and Helen (Trauthwein) VonSeelen, later known as Helen Howard.
Cathy became a nurse after graduating with a Bachelor's degree from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1975. She worked as both an oncology nurse and a hospice nurse before retiring from Hospice of Dayton.
Cathy loved to travel. She enjoyed an annual trip with her boys to Venice beach in the summers, going to the TCM festival each year with her sister, and finding as many places to go antique shopping as she could. Despite how much she enjoyed traveling, she also enjoyed her home and the many plants and succulents that filled it. Most mornings she could be found watching the sunrise on her patio, and she loved all the classic Cincinnati foods, including goetta and Skyline, making her a homebody at heart.
Cathy was a loyal and extremely supportive mom to her boys. She came to every sporting event, with her cowbell, and cheered loudly. She also loved spending time with her grandkids, especially during holidays when she would decorate extravagantly and always hide a pickle for them to find on the immaculate Christmas tree. She loved flamingos, Three Dog Night, and Seagrams Jamaican Me Happy. She was strong, stubborn, and sarcastic, and will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father Edward VonSeelen, mother Helen Howard, and step-dad Richard Howard. Cathy is survived by sons Robert L. Hull III, Edward Hull, Isaac Hull (Ashley), grandchildren Owen R., Rory E., Grayson, Evelyn, Isaac Jr., and Amelia, sister Karla VonSeelen, brother Steve VonSeelen (Melissa), Eric and Lori Larson and their daughter Monica Phillips, as well as many other close friends and loved ones.
