Charles W. Savage, III's Obituary
Charles Wilbur Savage III, age 53, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, March 29th, 2023. He was born November 14th, 1969 in Dayton, Ohio to Carol (Roland) and Charles Savage, II. but grew up in Kilgore, Texas until his senior year of high school when his family returned to Xenia. Charles graduated from Xenia Christian Academy, joined the Air Force in 1989, and has worked in the IT field for 25 years.
Charles served in active and reserve service until his Honorable Discharge as Senior Airman. During his service, he received Vance AFB Oklahoma Security Policy Augmentee of the Year award, the Silver Talon Honor Guard Airman of the Year, an Achievement Medal for Meritorious Service, and provided security and crowd control while the President visited Vance AFB. A staunch volunteer, he spent numerous hours guarding the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall, and was a key worker in collection of 25,000 lbs of supplies for Hurricane Andrew relief.
Charles' faith in God was his foundation in life. His passion for helping people and being a witness for his Lord and Savior showed in his service at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Xenia, Ohio. His servant life had him leading in very active roles including trustee, teacher and leader of Life and Small Groups. Charles' love of life and laughter made him a great asset at their major events and Vacation Bible School.
He was an avid runner, loved to hunt and fish, and to travel and hike. He will be remembered for his love of Mustang cars, especially the Shelby, and peppermint mocha coffee. Charles was an 80"s and Christian music guy, and would be found listening to Bon Jovi, The Martins, Mark Lowery, and the Gaithers. Charles LOVED to laugh, and did his best to make those around him laugh and enjoy life also with his pranks and sense of humor.
His love of life and of the outdoors was shared with his family and friends, who were also a very important part of his life. His favorite spot was Pike's Peak in the Rockies and the Smokies. He would invite people to help him cheer on the OSU Buckeyes and Bengal football teams, Duke and Celtics basketball, and the Cincinnati Reds. As the years went by and uncles passed, Charles worked steadfastly to keep the Savage Family Fun Day continuing. He also started hosting the annual 4th of July celebrations. Another long running tradition for over 20 years was his hosting the annual OSU vs Michigan football game party.
Charles loved his family with his whole heart, and will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lori Savage, and his children Charles W. Savage IV, Celsie Savage, Ava Falzerano, and Sophia Falzerano: his parents Charles and Carol Savage, and sisters Cheurie (Savage) Groves and Catina Hill (Franklin Hill Jr). He is also survived by relatives, Vernon and Alice Owens, and Adam and Dana Owens as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
To help the family celebrate his life, you are invited to share during his visitation at Lighthouse Baptist Church (2040 W. 2nd Street Xenia, Ohio 45385) on Saturday, April 8th, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.
