Christopher David "Chris or Hoy" Hoy's Obituary
Hoy, Christopher David “Chris” “Hoy”
Chris was born on Saturday April 2, 1983 in Elyria, Ohio to JoAnn (Laubenthal) and Harden Harold Hoy. He grew up the second of three children and graduated from Elyria High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Math and a master’s degree in Education from the Ohio State University, where he met his future wife, Lillie (Boggs). Chris was compassionate, very loving, analytical (in a warm fuzzy way), and a “grade A” heckler. He was passionate about people being authentic and not judged for who they are. Chris loved playing and coaching Ultimate Frisbee and even helped start a local high school club in Centerville. He also enjoyed playing golf and poker and bumming around watching TV and playing video games. Chris was an avid Buckeye, Browns and Cavs fan – though would watch any competitive event. Above all else, he loved his wife, family and friends. Chris took his own lifeMonday January 5, 2015 at home. He worked from home as a pre-sales network engineer for DataServ in Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his brother Nicholas Harden Hoy (May 2010). Chris is survived by his wife of 7 ½ years, Lillie (Boggs) Hoy; parents Harden Hoy of Huntsville, Alabama and JoAnn Pryor of Clifton Forge, Virginia; sister Julie Ann Brown of Clifton Forge; maternal grandparents Owen and Joan Laubenthal of Elyria; aunt Linda Laubenthal McKittrick of California; three nieces; other family; and countless friends. A gathering for family and friends will be held Saturday January 17th from 3-5 pm at CONNER & KOCH Life Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook (937-848-6651). A life celebration for Chris will follow at 5:00 pm. Family and friends can share stories and memories about Chris at www.ConnerandKoch.com by clicking on his name.
