Connie W. Heaton's Obituary
Heaton, Connie W., age 87, of Bellbrook, passed away on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022.
Connie was born on November 2nd, 1934 to Estel and Helen (Penny) Widman of Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Stivers High School in 1952, and then attended classes at the University of Dayton. Later, she worked for many years as a secretary at Wright-State University, a job where she made great friends and got to play cards at lunch. Connie enjoyed playing any and all games. She also enjoyed using her grit and determination to help the local community. Throughout the years she was involved with the Lioness Club, the Waynesville Progressive Women's Club, the school PTA, Southview Hospital volunteers, Sunday and Tuesday Schools, and as the Sugarcreek Post editor, as well as special projects like forming the Bellbrook elementary school library, directing school and church plays, and starting the Crossview Christian Church's (formerly Ferry Church of Christ) ice cream social.
Connie also loved to read, especially American history and books on the First Ladies and Presidents. She even helped to co-author a children's book with her daughter, Kim and her friend Carol. She also loved to travel with family and friends (Courtney, Charlie, Karen, and Rita), visiting Alaska, Hawaii, and nearly every other state. She especially enjoyed any opportunity to travel with her friends and family. She was feisty and energetic, and loved her grandchildren fiercely, and will certainly be missed by many.
Connie is survived by her children Gayle (Rick) Snell, Kim Koogler, and Kent Heaton, grandchildren Scott (Jeannette) Snell, Ryan Snell, Elizabeth Heaton, and Paul Heaton, great-grandson Evan Snell, and Pam Heaton as well as a host of many close special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Samuel P. (Pat) Heaton.
