Cynthia Margaret Buob's Obituary
BUOB, Cynthia M., age 71, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton.
Cynthia was a lifelong resident of the Dayton area and a 1973 graduate of Fairborn High School. She dedicated nearly 50 years of her life to Kettering Health Network, where she worked faithfully in various clerical support positions, retiring as a surgery scheduler at Cassano Health Clinic. Her career was marked by commitment and reliability. Cynthia was a member of St. Leonard’s Church, where she was very recently confirmed, an important and meaningful milestone in her faith journey.
In her early years, Cynthia enjoyed classical music and was an avid reader, particularly favoring thrillers and biographies by authors such as Tom Clancy and John Grisham. She loved flower gardening and took great pleasure in caring for her plants. Astronomy was also an interest, and she was alert to celestial events. Cynthia had a taste for good food and chocolate and appreciated life’s simple comforts. Family traditions meant a great deal to Cynthia. She especially loved Christmas and cherished time spent together with family, knowing how widely spread her loved ones were. She enjoyed trips to visit family in Hawaii, California, and Nevada over the years. Thanksgiving held special meaning for her, particularly her mother’s cherished stuffing recipe, a tradition Cynthia proudly learned, preserved, and continued in her mother’s honor.
Cynthia was known for being generous and quiet. She was especially proud of her independence, taking great satisfaction in purchasing her own home and living life on her own terms. Among many things, Cynthia will be remembered for her quiet strength, generosity of spirit, independence, and devotion to family traditions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milford Edward Buob and Nellie Mae Buob (neé Evans), and her nephew, Zach Buob. Cynthia is survived by her brothers, John (Marie) Buob and Gary (Kathy) Buob; her sisters, Sharyn (Jim) Boyce and Elaine (Robert) Middlestetter; her nephews, Sean Buob, David (Candace) Buob, and James Boyce; her nieces, Jennifer (Bradley) Frederick, Christiana (Miguel) Linera, and Reagan Boyce; her goddaughter, Andrea (Brent) Cisneros; three great-nephews; and 4 great-nieces.
Service will be announced soon. Conner & Koch Funeral Home of Bellbrook is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Dayton or St. Leonard's Franciscan Community. Condolences may be shared at https://www.connerandkoch.com
