David Lowell Cultice's Obituary
CULTICE, David Lowell, age 84, a lifelong resident of Xenia, died peacefully Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek of congestive heart failure.
David was a graduate from Xenia Central High School, class of ’57. He enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes. He loved studying and educating people about his family history and the history of Xenia. He was a dreamer, storyteller, and man of big ideas, who never met a stranger. In his later years, he could be seen driving his wheelchair or lawnmower around town. He was also strong willed, stubborn, and determined to do things his way. That strong-will and determination got him to be able to attend the University of Dayton, where he took criminal justice and police administration. In addition, he was also a police officer for the Xenia Police Division and the Kettering Police Department, with awards in marksmanship and public speaking. He also ran for Sheriff in Xenia. In addition, he worked with the Montgomery County Coroner Office and the Bureau of Criminal Identification. His other occupations included work in farming and construction, the Xenia Post Office, a journeyman ironworker, active in the Democratic Party, Deputy Registrar, and he managed properties until his later years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell Raper Cultice and Mary Marjorie Cultice (née Chestnut); his son, Kameron Cultice; sister, Anita (James) Mullins; grandparents, William Walter Cultice, Hilda Peacock Mullen, Howard Wesley Chesnut, and Ada F. Brown; his girlfriend, Nancy Fleckenstein; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his children, Joe Parry, Kimberly Larsson, Billi Jean, Katina Kramer, Teresa Mount, and Stephanie Fletcher; several grandchildren; two nieces, Kara (Mullins) Stewart and Kelly (Mullins) Turner; and his former wife, Mary Parry (neé Halsey/Cultice).
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm Wednesday, January 24, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. The burial will be in Clifton Union Cemetery in Yellow Springs. The family will receive friends from 11 am – 12 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to the Bridges of Hope homeless shelter in Xenia and/or Xenia Adult Recreation & Services Center. Condolences at www.connerandkoch.com.
