Delois Bailey's Obituary
Delois R. Bailey left this world on May 9, 2021 to join her husband, Lloyd, and son, Jeffrey, and never be separated again.
Lois met her husband, Lloyd, in Kentucky where they both grew up. They were married for 58 years. Lloyd passed away in 2011, followed by beloved son Jeffrey in 2016. Lois was also preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mae Johnson, sisters Opal Johnson, Wilma Sexton, and Bonnie Turner, and brothers Owen Johnson and Ott Johnson.
Lois is survived by three daughters, Vicki Stroby of Hillsboro, Ohio, Pam Bailey of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Gina Bailey of Bristol, Pennsylvania, grandchildren, Chris Bailey, Liana Wise, Callie Stroby, Kaela Winn, Terance Bailey, Timmy Bailey, Lexus Maher, Jon Maher, and Kennedy Maher, great-grandchildren Alexa Boggs, Zoe Bellinger, Xavier Wise, Paige Wise, Dayna Ceyler, Aiden Harris, Justice Bright, and Blake Morris, great-great-grandson Mattea Boggs, and siblings Glen Johnson and Mary Yost.
Lois grew up the daughter of a coal miner in Kentucky as the fourth of eight kids. She earned the nickname "Toe" because she was often tormented by her siblings with frogs and toads. When they came near her with one, she would run and scream, "Toe" because she could not yet say Toad; the name stuck.
Lois and Lloyd traveled to many places due to Lloyd's Army career. From Kentucky to Germany, then to New Jersey, to Hawaii, back to New Jersey, and finally retiring to Ohio in 2000. Lois and Lloyd were members of the First Baptist Church of Bellbrook and were involved in charity work with the ARC, We Care Arts, and the Special Olympics. Lois also enjoyed ceramics, playing cards, sewing, and bowling with Lloyd. Lois often whistled while she worked, and loved to be at the beach. She was extremely proud to be a military wife, and was especially close to her son, Jeffrey.
