Delores "Dee" Jean Combs' Obituary
COMBS, Delores Jean, affectionately known as Dee, of Bellbrook, passed away on April 21, 2024, at the age of 83, at the Legacy of Centerville after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Winchester, Indiana. Dee was a beloved wife, mother, mamaw, sister, and friend whose spirit and beauty touched the lives of all who knew her.
Dee was everyone's mamaw, known for her warm and playful nature. Children were drawn to her as she joyfully engaged with them, playing games, watching movies, and always making them feel special. She cherished her grandsons and had a special bond with each of them, telling each of them they were her favorite. Dee deeply loved her family, especially her husband, kids, and grandsons. She was passionate about country and bluegrass music, with George Jones being a favorite. Dee enjoyed road trips with her sister Eva, whom she fondly called her partner in crime, likening themselves to Thelma & Louise.
In her career, Dee dedicated 25 years of service to Parts Express, where she found joy and fulfillment. She was known for her hard work and commitment to her job.
Outside of work, Dee's love for music shone through. She enjoyed singing karaoke and listening to Real Roots radio. She cherished moments when her family would come together to play music and sing; it brought her immense joy.
She is preceded in death by her son, Billy Cupples; her parents, Lester and Ruth Norman; two brothers, Lester Norman Jr. and James Norman; and her two sisters, Leona Wilt and Patricia Mezera. Dee is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Vernon Combs; three daughters, Laura (Jeff) Stahl, Suzanne (Chris) Fehling, and Carolyn Looker; bonus daughter, Nancy Carol (Roy) Rice; seven grandsons, Billy Stidhem, Nicholas Laughlin, Alex Laughlin, Daniel Rimkus, Kole Fehling, Mike Looker, and Ian Looker, one great-grandson, William Robert Ray Stidhem; one sister, Evalena Long; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook.
