Diane W. Green's Obituary
GREEN, Diane W., age 85, of Bellbrook, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
Diane attended the University of Missouri, where she met the love of her life, Robert, in Economics class. She finished her degree at Wright State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business back when Wright State was a two-building campus. She retired in the late 90s from Wright Patterson Air Force Base after more than 35 years of service in civil engineering. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kettering, where she served as a treasurer in several women’s groups, as assistant librarian for a time, and sang in the choir. For the past ten years, Diane has been attending the Bellbrook Presbyterian Church, always supporting their numerous projects such as the bean suppers and garage sale benefits. She was also active in the Bethany Lutheran Grace Works.
Caring, loving, quiet, and hard-working, Diane had a deep Christian faith, was always supportive of her church, and was the type of person within an organization that was always busy making it run efficiently without the need for recognition. Along with her spouse, Diane loved the outdoors. She enjoyed hiking, backpacking, camping at Lake of the Woods in Farmersville, and boating. They especially enjoyed boating on Cowan Lake and the Ohio River. She also enjoyed crosspoint needlework, playing the piano, and reading. In addition, she had an impressive book collection.
All four of her grandparents immigrated to the United States, one from Spain and the others from Germany. The family had a tradition of celebrating the 4th of July holiday each year with great pride due to their heritage. The family made an American flag cake each year during the holiday, which also became a tradition that Diane was always fond of. She will be remembered for her love of country, family, church, and God, among many things.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Vera Weiner, and one sister, Judy Helling. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert; nephew, Bruce Helling; and niece, Melanie Helling.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, January 8, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. Burial will be in Bellbrook Cemetery, followed by a light luncheon at the Bellbrook Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 11 AM - 1 PM Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Bellbrook Presbyterian Food Ministry are encouraged in Diane’s memory. Condolences at www.connerandkoch.com.
