Diane L. Keane's Obituary
KEANE, Diane L., age 77, of Bellbrook and formerly of South Dakota, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Miami Valley Hospital.
Diane had a kind, unassuming, and accepting way about her. Diane’s nurturing spirit showed in her dedication to family and friends. She created a home where people wanted to be because it was comfortable, casual, and non-judgmental; the more the merrier. There was always enough to go around and always an open chair at her table. Diane was a mom and friend to many.
Diane volunteered serving seniors, as a Girl Scout leader, and as a reading tutor before returning to college at Clark State to pursue her nursing degree. Diane worked as a Registered Nurse in long term care for over 30 years, primarily with dementia patients. She preferred to work at night so she could concentrate on direct care to patients.
Diane worked nights, slept while the kids were at school, and devoted her afternoons and evenings to her family. Diane with her husband John held family dinners most nights. Together they never missed an opportunity to show support for their children’s pursuits. Diane was a good friend and made time to take care of her friends with a shoulder to cry on or with words of encouragement to take on another day.
Diane practiced yoga after retirement. She often shared her mat with the canine friends at the yoga studio. She loved animals. After losing her last dog Gracie, Diane was known for borrowing neighbor dogs for walks.
Diane enjoyed reading, listening to music, attending concerts, trips to the beach, and any event with her grandchildren. Diane poured her love, humor, compassion, and generosity into all of us. She made us laugh with her wry humor and finished her day with a glass of red wine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ethel Grewe. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John; two daughters, Kristen Keane (Matt Morss) and Jennifer Keane (Christopher Douglas); two grandchildren, Lauren Bijou and Arlo; and her brother Robert (Kathy) Grewe.
Private services at a later date. Conner & Koch Life Celebration Funeral Home in Bellbrook is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to Sophie’s Companions for Veterans by visiting www.sophiesanimalfund.com. Condolences at www.connerandkoch.com.
