Diane A. Scott's Obituary
Scott (née Windheim) Diane A., age 92, of Centerville and formerly of Kettering, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Bethany Lutheran Village, Cresent Crossing, in Centerville.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey, to the late Fred T. and Mildred (née De Vries) Windheim. Diane graduated from Montrose Christian High School in Essex Falls, N.J., in 1951. She worked for a few years, first at Newark Wire Cloth and then at Aircraft Supplies. At the end of July 1954, Diane found the love of her life, Charlie, at the Jersey Shore. Six months later, in January 1955, they were united in marriage at the Brookdale Baptist Church in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
Diane would often reminisce about her wonderful childhood days and expressed a deep love for her family and friends. One great example was a lifelong group of seven girlfriends, who adopted the name “Winky Dinks”, which originated in 1947. They have continued their friendship all these years.
Diane dedicated an incredible 48 years of service to Avon, where she worked as a sales consultant, received numerous awards, and made the President’s Club for many years.
Diane was a member of Washington Heights Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery for 48 years and helped with the Young at Heart luncheons for over 30 years. Diane's faith was a huge part of her life, and she continued her spiritual journey with daily devotions and by watching Sunday services remotely after moving to Bethany Village.
Diane enjoyed traveling and creating lasting memories. Some of her favorite stories included yearly cruises with her mother, visiting family and friends during the summer in Nutley, NJ, and Green Pond, N.J., spending time at Myrtle Beach, a hot air balloon ride on her 60th birthday, bowling a perfect score of 300 while participating in the New Neighbors League, and hosting yearly Tupperware parties. Diane also had a creative side that many did not know. While totally blind in her left eye, Diane found a love for colored pencil drawing. Most of the residents and staff at Cresent Crossing often commented on the beauty of her coloring. Diane signed many of her pieces and saved them in a binder for her display table, so visitors could enjoy them.
Diane loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved preparing family meals, especially during the holiday seasons. Diane will always be remembered for her generous spirit, love of family, and her ability to bring joy and warmth to those whose lives she touched.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles “Charlie” W. Scott Sr.; her parents, Fred T. Windheim Sr. and Mildred E. Windheim; one brother, Fred T. Windheim Jr.; two sisters, Barbara Windheim and Beverly Huston; and many extended family members, as well as many dear friends. She is survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” (Tammy) Scott Jr.; her two daughters, Lisann (Mike) Spence and Amy (Tom) Crawford; her six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life gathering will be from 1 pm to 3 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. If desired, contributions may be made to Washington Heights Baptist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at https://www.connerandkoch.com
