Barkalow, Dorothy M. “Dottie” (Brush)
91, of the Sanctuary at Wilmington Place, formerly of Kettering, passed away Sat. June 20, 2015. She was born June 3, 1924 in Dayton to Harriet Marie (Multhrup) and Lawrence Brush. Dottie married Mark Barkalow on Sept. 3, 1947 and after 67 yrs., he preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister Edith Prescott. Dottie is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Watkins (Robert) and Joyce Reynolds (David); five grandchildren, Adam, Sarah (Matt), Mark (Cheryl), Allison (Brendan), and Robin; three great-grandsons, Brandon, Landon and Nathan; and sister Thelma Schneider. Dottie retired from Top Value Enterprises in 1988 where she worked as a secretary. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at Good Will Industries. She also enjoyed church work at Ohmer Park Methodist Church where she was a member. She also attended church at Hope United Church of Christ and most recently, Bellbrook United Methodist Church. Dottie loved to sew, quilt and garden and will be lovingly remembered for her dishcloths and baby sweaters that she knitted. The family invites you to a life celebration gathering on Friday June 26th from 1-2 pm with a life celebration service to follow at 2:00 pm at CONNER & KOCH Life Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook (937-848-6651). Chaplain Craig Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in Bellbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Oh 45420 or the charity of your choice.
