Ellen "Kay" Hodson's Obituary
Ellen "Kay" Hodson, age 76, of Bellbrook, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 at her home. She was born August 16th, 1943 to Ann (Ward) in Columbus, Ohio.
Kay was a strong, family-oriented woman. She loved her family more than anything. She took great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived for any of their events, whether it be sports, dance, piano, even band and choir concerts. She was always ready for a family celebration. She and her husband Ted were known for their infamous Memorial Day parties. This yearly celebration lasted over 40 years. Volleyball, softball, sing-alongs, and poker were the order of events. Kay especially enjoyed playing volleyball. Although she wasn't very good, she still loved it anyway. Kay's favorite thing to do was play cards with her family and friends. She was also part of a Bridge Group for over 40 years.
Kay loved traveling all over the world with her husband, Ted, and best friend Delores. They traveled to England, Hawaii, and Spain to name a few destinations. She enjoyed seeing new places and spending time together with family on the beach. She enjoyed listening to many artists such as Elvis, Patsy Cline, and Billy Joel, but Ted was her favorite rockstar. Kay will be remembered for her kind, caring, personality. She demonstrated this daily- caring for her children, grandchildren, and especially her husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Barbara, David, and Lida; and lifelong best friend Delores Doggett. Kay is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ted Hodson; daughters Kristine (Marc) Gainey, Kelly (Dan) Hodson-Dircksen, and Wendy (Rob) Reigelsperger, son Aaron (Beth) Hodson; grandchildren Theo and Drew Gainey, Brittany (Byron) Branch, Tiffany (Jon) White, Cameron Blair, Lyla Dircksen, Ethan, Kyle, and Jeremy Reigelsperger, Miranda, Aaron, and Callie Hodson; great-grandchildren Chloe and Peyton Branch and Harrison White; sister Cathy Wagenlander and numerous family members and friends.
