Elsie L Strunk (Norman)'s Obituary
Strunk, Elsie L, age 91, of Bellbrook, passed away Wednesday, August 11th, 2021.
She was born October 27th, 1929 in Elgin, Tennessee to May (Stockton) and James Norman. Elsie graduated from Scott County High School, and she was a high school All-American Basketball player. While small in stature, she was a smart and aggressive athlete that continued on in her life. Elsie loved sports, and especially followed women's softball and baseball. It was also common for the family to watch and play sports together, instilling values in her children for life.
Elsie had an artistic and creative nature. She was a prolific quilter throughout her whole life. She not only graced her home with wood carvings but was also known as a woodworker of furniture. Another facet of her talents was oil paintings, particularly landscapes. She was also very productive in gardening. Even as late as in her 80's, she could be found out tending to the plants in the huge vegetable garden. She may have needed a chair to rest but she could lose herself in the outdoors all day.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gene. She is survived by her children Byron (Vikki) Strunk and Maurice (Beverly) Strunk. Elsie also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.
