Elwood "Woody" Homan's Obituary
Homan, Elwood “Woody”, 93, of Kettering, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the Lodge Retirement Community, Loveland. Woody was born Oct. 3, 1923 in Dayton to Regina Amelia (Wabler) and Roman Ignatius Homan. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired in 1991 after 20+ years of owning and operating W.W. Enterprise, where he worked as a Manufacturers Representative. Woody was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Albert the Great Church for over 50 years, and a member of the Knights of Columbus #3730 Dayton. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 63 years, Elizabeth, one brother, Eugene Homan, and four sisters, Marian Eakins, Mabel Speece, Edith Heiser, and Doris Westendorf. Woody is survived by his son Tim Homan (Kim) of Ocala, Florida; three daughters, Marianne Messer (Scott) of Santa Rosa, California, Marcia Fritts (Tim) of Mason, and Amy Klenke (Dan) of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Emilee Munafo (Jason), Jessica DiPerna (Anthony), Megan Meyers (Ricky), Alyson Klenke, Molly Fritts, Nathan Klenke and Sam Klenke; seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Peyton, Myles, Michael, Maverick, Case and Beau; two sisters-in-law Rosemary Homan and Opal Homan; and several nieces and nephews. You are invited to Woody’s life celebration visitation on Thursday Dec. 1st from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave., Kettering. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at noon with Father Pat Welsh officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850 for the care of wounded soldiers and their families.
