Emma Jean Wells' Obituary
Wells, Emma Jean, 86, of Kettering, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. Jean was born to Finley and Virginia (Hawkins) Wells on November 17, 1929 in Berea, Kentucky. Throughout her life, Jean was devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ. For many years, she attended Kettering First Church of God, and later Marshall Road Church of God, where she was one of three founding members of the Angel Sisters, a support group for widows. She also dedicated her time to regular Bible teaching and care for individuals with disabilities. Jean worked in Real Estate, even though the most beautiful house with the very best curb-appeal was always hers. She won a Kettering beautification award at two different houses largely because she loved to garden and grow. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing and crafts, and her sweet dogs. She loved her family very dearly and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her son Les Burton. She is survived by two sons, Arthur Burton and Gary Burton, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to gather for a life celebration visitation on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 10 am to 12 pm at Marshall Road Church of God (4400 Marshall Rd, Kettering, OH 45429). A life celebration service will follow at 12 pm with Kevin Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery (118 Woodland Ave, Dayton, OH 45409) after which guests are invited to a memorial dinner at Marshall Road Church of God.
