Ferguson, Erna "Ernie"
89, of Spring Valley, passed away Sat. Sept. 26, 2015. She was born May 22, 1926 in Sandy Hook, Ky. to Maude (Ison) and Arnold Lewis Skaggs. She was a school teacher who previously worked for Wayne Local Schools (Waynesville) and Sugarcreek Schools (Bellbrook) before retiring in 1982. In between teaching jobs at Waynesville and Bellbrook, she also tutored special education students. Ernie was very compassionate and giving and had an undeniable love for animals. She would often rescue animals and care for them as her own. She enjoyed watching the news, talking politics and drinking coffee with family and friends.She will also be lovingly remembered for being a strong-willed "spitfire" who was loyal and giving. Ernie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Beecher; daughter Pam Cook (Tom) of Spring Valley, two sons Rick Ferguson (Sandra) of Spring Valley and Steve Skaggs (Marty) of Mt. Sterling, Ky; grandson Darin Cook (Julianne) of Spring Valley; brother Ford Skaggs (Donna) of Ashland, Ky; and sister Allie Mae Lewis of Louisville, Ky. The family will receive friends Mon. Sept. 28 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at CONNER & KOCH Life Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook (937-848-6651). Life celebration services will follow at 12:00 pm.
