Ervin "Scott" Barnett's Obituary
BARNETT, Ervin “Scott”, age 55, of Bellbrook, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Scott graduated from Bellbrook High School, class of ’88. For over 20 years, he worked at L&H Threaded Rods in Moraine.
Being laid back and a man of few words, he chose his friends wisely and built a tight-knit group. He was an avid fisherman and would try to go whenever he had a chance. His favorite spots were Caesar Creek Lake and Spring Lakes. He looked forward to fishing excursions with his best friend, Damon. When he was younger, he enjoyed taking a yearly trip to Lake Cumberland with his friends. He was a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan and never missed a game. In childhood and throughout his elementary years, he played soccer. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing tennis, pickleball, and golf. In addition, he loved his gray Silverado truck and would regularly take his favorite companion, his dog “Bella”, everywhere he went. After his dad, “Butch”, passed away, Bella and Scott created a special companionship. Scott took Bella everywhere he went, even to the grocery store.
He was very proud of his family and loved spending time with his niece and nephews. He enjoyed spending time with his family during holidays, birthdays, or any chance to play euchre with them. Over the years, he developed a special love for collecting comic books, Star Wars figures, and baseball cards. In his quiet time, he self-taught himself how to play the guitar and was quite talented. He always had a kind and gentle spirit and would do anything for anyone.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Butch” Barnett, in February 2025. He is survived by his mother, Janet Barnett; his sister, Laurie (Eric) Bolin; his brother, Mark (Sue) Stewart; his three nephews, Jeffert (Shaira) Pugh, Evan (Aidan) Brouwer, and Ben; his two nieces, Rachel (James) DeLecce and Jennie; four great-nephews, Cohen, Kyler, Josiah, and Lucas; his uncle, Ronald Shutts; and his best friend, Damon (Becky) Wick.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. Jeff O’Guinn will be officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to Greene County Animal Shelter. Condolences at https://www.connerandkoch.com.
