Ezra S. Tirey's Obituary
TIREY, Ezra S., age 16, of Dayton, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
Ezra attended Dayton Christian School and was preparing for his junior year in high school, and getting ready to take his driver’s license test. While at school, he was breaking records on the track team. He went to state with both the indoor and outdoor track teams. He was a standout sprinter for the Dayton Christian Warriors track and field team. He qualified for the Division V State Track and Field Championships as a member of the relay team. In addition, when he was younger, he played soccer and basketball.
Easy to talk to, he was very motivating and a role model to others. Ezra enjoyed mentoring other boys his age. He was a young entrepreneur and was a hard worker, learning the new ropes of building a business. He had just completed his first full website development for a company. He had a passion for reselling items online. His specialty was cologne, and following his passing, his friends joked, saying, “he will be selling cologne to Jesus.” In addition, he had a summer job with his brother as a custodian at Stivers High School. He was very proud of the career he was building for his future.
Kind and thoughtful, he had a very caring and loving side to him that fed into him being family-oriented. He was known for being a helper to other family members and friends. Even though he was quiet and a little bit of a loner, he had a dry sense of humor that was absolutely hilarious. When he was not busy with the business he was building, he enjoyed working out and playing video games. He was passionate about his unwavering faith and sharing it with others. He greatly enjoyed going on family vacations, to Tybee Island and a family cruise to the Western Caribbean, which were some of his favorite memories. Above everything came his grandma’s spaghetti; he could devour a whole bowl by himself and was grateful every time she made it for him. He also enjoyed Chick-fil-A, where he would always order himself two spicy chicken sandwiches… and sometimes three. Among many things, he will be remembered for the pride and joy he had in his family, his excelling in sports, and the career he was building.
Ezra is survived by his parents, Steven and Sarah Tirey; his two brothers, Solomon and Cypress; his three sisters, Lucy, Elizabeth, and Goldie; grandparents, Marc (Julie) Richard, Darrell (Shelley) Lamb, and Cherie Neff; great-grandparents, Charles (Linda) Pack; aunts and uncles; and a ton of cousins. Ezra is also survived by extended family and loved ones across the many circles of family and friendships who were blessed to call him theirs.
A memorial service will be at 2 pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Crossview Christian Church in Waynesville. Pastor Steve Schick will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 am until 2 pm on Saturday, July 25, at the church. Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook is serving the family.
