Flora M. Burns (Morgan)'s Obituary
BURNS, Flora M., age 91, of Spring Valley, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023.
Flora was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Beavercreek. She was a faithful attendee of the church and made many close friends during her involvement.
Caring, loving, helpful and giving, Flora was often feisty and enjoyed making friends and family laugh with her comments. Especially while younger, she raised Dachshund dogs, and later poodles. Her love of dogs inspired her to enjoy raising them so that other families could enjoy them. In recent days, it was a Shih Tzu, “Brina”, that she cared for and adored. Her other hobbies included crocheting and sewing and working crossword puzzles. Also in her younger days, she was a CB radio enthusiast and was aptly known as “Gertie” among those inspired to communicate via the use of the radio frequency spectrum. In addition, while the kids were growing up, she and her husband enjoyed taking the kids camping and on road trips. Some of the more notable trips included trips to Florida, including Walt Disney World, and Washington D.C. She also traveled out to Utah one time to see the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City. It was a tradition for Flora to host the Christmas Eve festivities at her home, which she always looked forward to. Among many things, she will be remembered for her love of shopping, how much she enjoyed collecting dolls, and most importantly, the pride she had in creating a legacy via her large family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 2004; an infant son, Ronald Everett Burns; her parents, John and Bessie Morgan; and two brothers, John Morgan Jr. and Robert “Sonny” Morgan. She is survived by four children, John (Lee) Burns, Debra Stollings, Susan Crane, and Timothy (Barb) Burns; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and nine great great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6 -8 PM Thursday, October 19 at Conner & Koch Life Celebration Funeral Home in Bellbrook. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday at the funeral home with Brother Collin Lyon officiating the services. Burial will be in Middle Run Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township. Condolences may be made at www.connerandkoch.com.
