Franklin Peter Finizio's Obituary
Finizio, Franklin “Frank” Peter, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2015. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Schmall Finizio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Galerno Finizio and George Finizio of Roselle Park, New Jersey, and his brothers Ernest and George.
Frank graduated from Rutgers University in 1954 and joined the United States Air Force. He was a 1st lieutenant when discharged from active duty in 1956, and a captain when discharged from inactive duty in 1967. Frank spent 38 years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and participated in many projects including the Short Range Attack Missile (SRAM) Project as Chief of Analysis and Integration from 1964 to 1975. He was also the chief engineer on the F-4 Phantom and the F-15 Eagle projects until his retirement from Wright Patterson AFB in 1993.
Frank loved to putter in the garden, keep an eye on the stock market and tinker with computers. He was a gentle and kind man with many interests that kept him busy. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews who thought the world of him and will miss him very much.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be at St. Francis of Assisi, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, from 9:30-10:30 am on Saturday March 28, 2015. A memorial mass will immediately follow at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Alzheimers Association or a charity of your choice.
