Frederick "Fred" Freddie" A. Trickler's Obituary
TRICKLER, Frederick “Fred” “Freddie” A., age 88, of Bellbrook, West Carrollton, and Centerville, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025.
Born on May 7, 1937, Fred was a longtime resident of the Dayton area and was proud of his extensive Trickler and Darbyshire family roots in Bellbrook. He was a graduate of Bellbrook High School, class of ’55. He remained connected to his alma mater and attended his class reunions, regularly meeting with that community of friends right up to the last weeks of his life. Following high school, Fred honorably served in the United States Army. Drafted in the early 1960s, he fulfilled his military duty and proudly served his country.
Fred worked for Ohio Bell in various positions, including a test board operator, before retiring after 34 years. He received several awards for his dedicated service and proudly volunteered with the Ohio Bell Pioneers. Throughout his life, he was a proud member of various masonic lodges and the Scottish Rite. The Masons always held a special place in his heart because of the care and guidance his father received from them as a young child at the former orphanage at the Ohio Masonic Home in Springfield, Ohio. He was also a faithful member of Fairhaven Church in Centerville.
With his wife, Anita, and her family, he spent many enjoyable years traveling the US and boating on Lake Cumberland before her passing. He had a genuine love for cars and was well known for his “superpower” of keeping them impeccably clean. In his retirement years, Fred stayed active and social. He cherished his daily routine of drinking coffee with friends each morning, some of whom were his former classmates. He was a devoted walker, including many years as a mall walker, where he met his current wife, Margie Little. Together they continued to travel, go hiking, regularly attend Dayton Dragons games, and visit with dear friends. Margie’s family became a cherished part of his life.
Fred was known for his kind and friendly nature and his gentle spirit. He had dedication to family and extended family. He had great pride and admiration for his son and grandchildren; they brought him immense joy, never missing any of their important school events and stopping in to visit with them nearly every weekend. He cherished his family and their Bellbrook heritage; he was proud that both of his grandchildren also graduated from his alma mater. Among many things, Fred will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his love of family, his quiet reliability, and the warmth he brought into every room.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Anita Trickler, and his parents, Charles and Almyra Trickler. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Margie Little; his son, Todd, and his wife, Megan Trickler; his grandchildren, Evan and Nora Trickler; his close stepdaughter, Sally, and her husband, Kenny Dixon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many well-loved extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. Burial will follow at Bellbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be shared at https://www.connerandkoch.com.
