Irma Carlota Grillo's Obituary
GRILLO, Irma Carlota, age 90, of Oakwood, OH, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
She was born on November 23, 1935, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Carlos Rodriguez Rosario and Eulalia Peña Rodriguez. At the age of 19, Irma came to the United States, where she later met the love of her life, Thomas Grillo Jr. They were married on her birthday in 1962.
Irma was a proud and devoted mother to her three children, Leza, Bill, and Adria. Selfless and endlessly kind, she gave her whole heart to her family and friends. She had a way about her that made everyone feel cared for and welcomed. Her compassion touched all who knew her, and she will always be remembered for her grace, warmth, and strength.
Irma found joy in life’s simple moments and especially cherished her time working at the gift shop in Okinawa, Japan, while stationed there. She later retired from Elder-Beerman after many years of dedicated customer service.
Irma is survived by her sister, Myrta Rodriguez; sister-in-law, Doris Garcia; son, William Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Adria and David Peck; grandchildren, Christina (Gary) Fullen, Natasha (Scott) McIntire, Jeremy (Katie) Brown, Alexandra (Richard) Glennon, and Ashley Peck; and great-grandchildren, Brenden, Isabelle, Lilian, Scarlett, and Olivia, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Tom; and her younger brother, Carlos.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 12 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. A celebration of life service will follow at 12 PM. Celebrant Brian Bennett will be officiating. Burial will be at Bellbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Irma’s memory to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420. Condolences at https://www.connerandkoch.com.
