Irma V. Stewart's Obituary
STEWART, Irma V. (McMichael), age 97, of Sugarcreek Township, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, at her residence.
Irma was a 1946 graduate of Bellbrook High School. Early in her life, she worked at NCR. After a short time working at NCR, she chose to stay home to raise her son.
Loving, caring, and family-oriented, Irma was often ornery and greatly enjoyed having fun with family and friends. She had a compassionate heart toward animals; basically, any animal she could feed and care for. She always had a dog to care for, and will also be remembered for having stray cats, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and a parakeet. A family member often joked with her that if she could find a horse to care for, she would. Well, wouldn’t you know, a horse wandered down the road one day, and Irma stopped what she was doing to provide protection and food until the owner showed up. Irma also loved the outdoors and took every opportunity to spend time in nature. It became a tradition for her, her spouse, and her son to travel to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for fishing expeditions. They always had a fish fry with the fresh catch, which became one of their favorite memories together. Irma loved going on drives, and it became another fond tradition to make one of the drives to her favorite restaurant, Mom’s Country Kitchen in Spring Valley, for their home-cooked meals. Among many things, Irma will be remembered most for her love of family and her affection for children. Specifically, she was especially proud of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1985; her parents, Guy and Catherine McMichael (Cyphers); and two brothers, Bob and Frank McMichael. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kathi Stewart; three granddaughters, Belinda (Rob) Smith, Krista (Shane) Demoss, and Amanda (Jake) Ault; nine great-grandchildren, Kylee, Makayla, Vincent, Micah, Taylor (Zach), Breonna, Ashton, Brody, and Chance; six great-great-grandchildren, Carter, Isla, Harmony, Melody, Kayden, and Grayson; niece, Debbie Closson; and nephew, Doug McMichael.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Monday, September 22, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. A life celebration service will immediately follow the visitation at 6:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home, with Matthew Allen officiating the service. If desired, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.connerandkoch.com.
