I and fellow Army ROTC guys and gals met Jasson Cwiekalo, “Cwie” as we would call him, in 1989 at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO. Anyone who knew Jasson knows how KIND a heart he had – I know he had the heart of LION. I will always remember Jasson as a humble, hard-working guy with perpetual optimism who:• Loved basketball. Man, could he shoot the 3 ! We watched Laettner’s shot that beat Kentucky in 1992 in our dorm T.V. room together. I always think of him when Duke is playing. • Was a fellow member of a Ranger Challenge Team that won the Patrolling Event with Jasson as the pace man. He was so meticulous that he could tell 8 other guys how far we had had traveled in total darkness through the woods – simply by counting his steps. Our medal for winning that event is in the trophy case in Jefferson City, MO. I visited in 2019 and made sure I stopped by to see it 😊 • NEVER had a harsh word to say about anyone.• Made me better for having known him.Kerry "Pete" Pietras
