Jeffrey "Jeff" M. Sponseller's Obituary
SPONSELLER, Jeff “Spawny”, age 71, passed away on October 23, 2025. He was born in Washington, D.C. He lived the majority of his life in Ohio. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Tillie Sponseller; brother, Mark Sponseller; and several extended family members and friends. He is survived by family, many friends, and wonderful neighbors. In his late teens and early 20s, Jeff enjoyed parachuting, cave exploring, and hanging out with friends. He was hardworking, very independent, and had a wonderful sense of humor. For many years, he worked in the wholesale produce business. He loved his home nature preserve, the Sponderosa. He took and shared several pictures of the flowers, plants, and animals in his yard. The Sunday friend’s gathering at his house was a highlight of his week. They would watch sports and hang out. In addition, he enjoyed talking about history and genealogy. Jeff researched his own family and shared his findings with his sister and the rest of the family. He was intrigued by visiting graves of generations of long ago. It was very important to Jeff to mention long-lost family members to keep their names alive. He printed photos of relatives to hang in his house; many times, these were family members he had never met. He was very interested in history, specifically Native Americans. He was fascinated by the community’s history and development over the years and expanded his own knowledge by doing countless hours of research. He will be greatly missed by many. Memorial contributions in Jeff’s honor can be made to Ohio’s Hospice or the Sugarcreek Metropark. A private celebration of life will be held.
