John Cunningham's Obituary
A witty and loving husband, dad, and papaw, John Arthur Cunningham, age 77, of Spring Valley, passed away Wednesday, April 6th, 2022 in Dayton.
John was born and raised here in Dayton, Ohio, coming into the world on October 11th, 1944. After he finished school, John began working as an electrical design engineer, and worked for several different companies throughout his career.
John loved to golf, and especially enjoyed playing at Princeville in Hawaii on the island of Kauai. That trip was exceedingly memorable, and he and Sandy always dreamed of going back. John also had a deep appreciation for good music. He loved older classic rock music the best, but enjoyed everything from jazz to classic country, and even managed to dabble in his own special version of yodeling. He also collected stereo equipment and vinyl records to enjoy his favorite's more fully. John had an appreciation for fine dining and a well-cooked steak. He looked forward to making his Dayton Nut Company selections each Christmas. John was a fantastic papaw, that thought his granddaughters were just so "neat." He was a wonderful man, who will be missed by many.
John is survived by wife Sandra "Sandy" Cunningham, daughters Emilie Zuffrey (D. Anthony Robinson) and Sarah Shelley (Chad), and granddaughters Grace Shelley and Ava Shelley. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Betty Cunningham, brother David Cunningham, and sister Mary Ann McDonald.
To help the family celebrate his life, you are invited to attend his visitation at Conner & Koch Life Celebration Home on Sunday, April 10th, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, with burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton.
