Raney, John W.
age 74, of Centerville, passed away Monday April 7, 2014 at his residence. He was born October 22, 1939 in Bloomington, Illinois to Charles Walter Raney and Marie Ione (Cline) Raney. He served his country with honor in the Army Reserves. John loved being outdoors, had a passion for reading Westerns and history, and enjoyed traveling by car. In addition, John will be remembered for never knowing a stranger and his love of children, especially his grandkids. He retired from Elder Beerman where he previously worked as Shoe Dept. Manager. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Raney, sister Patricia Myers, brother Charles Raney and brother Jimmy King. John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ann (Peters) Raney, daughter Michelle Millard-Arrowood (Brad), son Doug (Breanna), son Steve, daughter Rebecca Woody (Charles), seven grandchildren Jackson, Christina, Ruth Ann (Josh), Andrew, Caden, Violet and Finnley, two great-grandchildren Olivia and Bailey, sister Rose Caves (David), sister-in-law Nancy Raney, brother-in-law Jimmy Myers, aunt Inez Raney and many other relatives too numerous to list. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Saturday April 12 at CONNER & KOCH FUNERAL HOME, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook. A celebration of John's life will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Boyce Sizemore officiating.
