Joy (Gohmann) Jackowski's Obituary
Joy M. (Gohmann) Jackowski, of Centerville and most recently Kettering, passed away on Monday, November 7th, 2022. She was born on October 25th, 1930 to Robert and Evelyn (Gibbs) Gohmann.
Joy graduated from Julienne High School in the Class of '47 and received a scholarship to the Dayton Art Institute. She was a talented artist and designer who continued painting into her 90's.Joy designed and kept award winning flower gardens through her adult life. She worked as an interior decorator, and previously as a card designer for Stanley Greeting Cards. She had a keen eye for discerning beauty and always liked for her surroundings to look appealing, from her eye-catching landscape to her classy attire, she enjoyed beautiful things. She was an avid reader and a lifelong learner. She loved her family immensely and was endearingly nicknamed "Grandma Pies."
She will be missed most by her children Stephen Jackowski (Carol), Bronne Wilson (Dale), and Chris Jackowski (Ronnie), grandchildren Tess Mantia Augustine (Paul), Bob Jackowski (Jessie), Justin Wilson, and Chelsey Wilson Phiffer (Eric), 13 great-granchildren, sister Judy Gohmann, and close friend Kiyoko Jarrett. Joy was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Evelyn Gohmann, husband Robert Jackowski, son Philip Jackowski, granddaughter Kristen Williams, special nephew Todd Gohmann, brothers Robert Gohmann and Bruce Gohmann, and sister Elizabeth Foley.
To help the family celebrate her life, you are invited to attend a visitation in her honor at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (6245 Wilmington Pike Dayton, OH 45459) on Friday, November 11th, 2022 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following the visitation, at 10:30 am. Calvary Cemetery (1625 Calvary Ave, Dayton, OH 45409) will be Joy's final resting place.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Affinity Care Hospice (7681 Tylers Place Blvd. Suite 3 West Chester, OH 45069) or St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (6245 Wilmington Pike Dayton, OH 45459).
