Joyce Amburgey Risner's Obituary
Risner, Joyce (Amburgey)
of Xenia, passed away Friday Sept. 25, 2015 at the age of 84. She was born Aug. 8, 1931 in Amburgey, Kentucky to Nora Jane (Everidge) and Odus Jay Amburgey. After earning an Associates degree in Education, she began her teaching career in a one room school house in Kentucky for 2 years. She then earned her Bachelors Degree in Education as she began teaching in Ohio first in Beavercreek Schools for 2 years and then in Sugarcreek Schools for 31 years. She retired from Sugarcreek Schools, where she taught mostly 4th grade, with a total of 35 years in education. Joyce was a member of the Retired Teachers of Greene County. She attended Xenia Church of Christ and more recently Kettering Church of Christ with her daughter and family. Joyce loved the Lord and loved reading and studying her Bible. Joyce deeply loved her grandson, Austin. When he was younger she enjoyed getting him off the bus, watching him play soccer, and many other activities. More recently, she enjoyed eating out with Austin, Brittany, and the family and just spending time together. She was also a good cook and enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Josephine Wheatley. Joyce is survived by her daughter Pamela Jackson (Gary) of Bellbrook; grandson Austin Jackson; sister Cassie Justine Huff of Hindman, Kentucky, and former husband, Clarence Risner of Bellbrook. Family and friends will gather Monday Sept. 28th from 6-8 pm at CONNER & KOCH Life Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook (937-848-6651).
