It is the most difficult thing to say goodbye to a close friend, as we all have done during the course of our lives. My way of dealing with this is to only remember the things that made that person special to me. With Kevin there are so many things about our time together as friends it will stay with me for the rest of my life. We began our friendship in our first year at Bowling Green creating havoc in the dorms (I won't elaborate), and continued by visits and phone calls until now. A very special memory of mine reveals the real personality of my dear friend. Kevin came east for a long weekend around two years after my daughter's birth. There was a quiet moment while we all were waiting for dinner when I walked into the living room and found Kevin playing peek a boo with my little girl that showed the deep love he held in his heart for children. This was not the only example of his gentle side, but it is one that I will always carry with me. I was so blessed to have known this man as one of the finest examples of strength, independence, intelligence, humor and compassion. To the Steinke family I send my deepest condolences. To my friend: Kevin, I will carry your positive spirit with me forever! Pete
