Larry Kerns Burgert's Obituary
Burgert, Larry K., 77, of Beavercreek, passed away Friday July 22, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born March 10, 1939 in Goes Station in Greene County, Ohio to Mary (Kerns) and Jesse Burgert, and spent his childhood in Springfield, Ohio. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Don Burgert, and sister Marikay Brock. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy (Martin) Burgert, two sons Jeff Burgert (Paula) of Dayton, Steve Burgert of Dayton, daughter Sue (Burgert) Reigelsperger of Miamisburg, four grandchildren Tyler, James, Kayla and Zach, two brothers Charles Burgert of Springfield, Robert Burgert of California, and sister Ruth Ann Karsten of Springfield. Larry was passionate about music, particularly piano and organ. He started his 50 year career in the music industry at a music store in Springfield, and then to BHA. He and his business partner Orison Hardigree opened their own store called Music Mart in Troy, Ohio and eventually purchased Dayton Piano and Organ, where they owned and operated the store for more than 35 years. After retiring from the music industry, he went to work for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. For fun, he loved flying his Piper Cherokee plane for 20+ years and spending time at the Moraine Airpark. Larry also enjoyed many water activities including speed boating, fishing and swimming in his pool. There will be a private life celebration service at the convenience of the family.
