Lester "Butch" Sommers' Obituary
An eternally funny, dad, grandpa, and brother, Lester George Sommers, age 78, of West Carrollton, passed away on Monday, February 21st, 2022 at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born on February 8th, 1944 to Lester and Lucille (Holly) Sommers. After graduating from Bellbrook High School, he worked for General Motors for over 30 years.
Many of his closest friends, and all of his family, will have no trouble picturing "Les" grilling-out by the pool with a Miller Lite in hand. He was a simple man with a sensational sense of humor. He loved to golf and bowl, participating in various leagues through the years. He played in a long-standing fantasy football league, and enjoyed the camaraderie and competition, and did his fair share of smack talk. He traveled frequently to Cancun and England, and was never one to turn down an opportunity for adventure. The family will miss their 4th of July pool parties, even if they were usually plagued with rain, and their "Christmas pizza." Lester lived his life with a lot of heart, and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Lucille Sommers, grandsons Nathaniel Sommers and Christopher Sommers, and brothers Tony Sommers and Jim Sommers.
Lester is survived by his children Scott Sommers (Linda), Erick Sommers (Michael), and Holly McBride (Ryan), grandchildren Hillary (Alex), Katherine (Andrew), Erica (Cody), Stephanie, Shelby, and Nathaniel, great-grandchildren Violet, Daisy, Flora, Oliver, Autumn, Jaxon, and Edie, and sisters Kay (Sam) Ellis and Vicki (Tony) Pagano.
To help the family celebrate his life, you are invited to share during his memorial visitation at Conner & Koch Funeral Home (92 W Franklin St., Bellbrook, OH 45305) on Saturday, February 26th, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
