Lillabelle "Jonnie" Burge's Obituary
Jonnie passed away suddenly at age 96. She was a 60 year resident of Bellbrook, Ohio and witnessed many "unwanted" changes to the area.
She lived most of her life on their 15 acre farm where she, her husband Bob, son David, and daughter Middy, raised many different farm animals including horses and a few elephants as overnight guests. They worked a large garden and 5 acres of grapes which they turned into wine with the help of the Valley Vineyard's Winemaker, Jim McCann and owner Jim Schuchter, while working over 25 years for the federal government at WPAFB and DESC. She and Bob retired early so that they could travel, including twice across Canada and Alaska in their trailer. Besides her family and cat, Elmer, her great love was art. She began with a class at the WMCA in 1966 and was painting until the day before she passed away. She was a member of the Miamisburg Art Guild and Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors, winning many awards over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1998, leaving behind son, David Burge and wife Peggy and daughter, Middy and husband Kurt Hoffhein; 5 grandchildren, David and Rick Burge, and Kristine (Burge) Holderman, Matthew Westwood and Bob Westwood, 9 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
