Linda P. Worthington's Obituary
WORTHINGTON, Linda P., age 84, of Spring Valley, passed away Monday, June 2, 2025, at her residence.
Linda graduated from Jeffersonville High School in Indiana, class of '59. She worked as an office manager for several doctors for over 30 years. She was a devoted and active member of the Bellbrook Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and treasurer for many years.
Among many things, Linda was known for extensive volunteerism and charitable endeavors, which defined Linda's life. She devoted countless hours over the years to community service, caring for the needs of others. In addition to being a Den Mother while her kids were growing up, she was a member of DAR and a volunteer teacher at the Ferry Church of Christ's Tuesday School program. Linda and her husband ran the T-ball program in Bellbrook for over 40 years, ultimately witnessing multiple generations participate in the program. Linda was also extremely involved with the Bellbrook Lions Club, serving as president and secretary, in addition to multiple other roles. Never failing in her devotion to the club's efforts, she was selling raffle tickets at Dot's Market to raise money a week before she passed away.
Family-oriented, giving, humble, loving, generous, and patriotic, Linda was outgoing, friendly, and always upbeat. She loved to laugh and tell stories from her life experiences. She also loved sewing, a talent that she taught to her grandchildren over the years. In addition to sewing clothes for her family, she made clothes for her granddaughters' dolls, pillows, and hemmed their prom dresses. She enjoyed spending time with family while fishing in local ponds, which became another cherished hobby over the years, and was not afraid to bait a hook. Her other hobbies included flower gardening, oil painting, and maintaining her property by driving her golf cart, the "Linda Lou," around to pick up sticks and keep the grass mowed.
Always finding ways to get her family together, Linda enjoyed many traditions that became very cherished memories for her family. Every Sunday after church, she prepared a dinner served promptly at Noon, which continued strong for over 30 years. She was an excellent cook and created feasts during Thanksgiving and Christmas that looked as though they could be featured on the cover of a magazine. Her holiday tables were set with fine china, special silverware, elegant white tablecloths, and unique salt cups and small spoons set for each place setting. She collected the salt cups and spoons, which easily numbered over 100. Her family will never forget how delicious her Christmas bourbon balls and special shortbread cookies were, made with German Springdale rolling pins. Linda also loved the 4th of July holiday, when the family would gather at the home of her son, David. She would always insist on buying the fireworks and other table decorations to ensure that the holiday was fun for all. Linda loved playing board games with the family, with Pictionary, word games, and especially Scrabble being among their favorites. Among other noteworthy items that defined Linda's life, she always valued a special dollhouse that her grandfather had custom-made, which she cherished throughout her life, and she recently restored. In addition to her love of ice cream and Pepsi, she especially adored her miniature Schnauzer, Millie, whom she loved dearly for the last 6 years and was her constant companion. Linda will be remembered most for her love of family, dedication to community, and her love of God.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Walter Scott Worthington Jr., in 2016, and her parents, Robert and Jane Pinnell. She is survived by two sons, Scott (Mary) Worthington and David (Tilda) Worthington; seven grandchildren, Shelby (Ryan) Funfgeld, Lindsey Worthington (Bob Kirschner), Michael Worthington, Holly Worthington, Rachel (Joe) Fugate, Tyler Mallison, and Morgan Bissinger; great-grandson, Cameron; two brothers, Bobby Pinnell and Tom (Tui) Pinnell; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 6, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a committal service in Bellbrook Cemetery. Diane Ziegler will be officiating the services. If desired and in memory of Linda, contributions may be made to the Bellbrook Lions Club, PO Box 111, Bellbrook, Ohio 45305. Condolences may be made at www.connerandkoch.com.
