Mark F. Crum's Obituary
Markley F. Crum, age 73, of Kettering, passed away on Thursday, June 30th, 2022.
Mark was born on June 21st, 1949 to Walter and Vaughn (Miller) Crum. A Springfield, Ohio native, he graduated from North High School in 1968 and then studied at RETS Electronic School. He served his country during the Vietnam War, working as a field radio mechanic in South Korea. After returning to the States, Mark married JoAnn Sizemore and settled into the family life he loved so much.
Throughout the years, Mark designed and installed cabinetry, worked as a truck driver, and landed a career in parts procurement for the U.S. Government. His true life’s work, however, was as a father, grandfather, husband, brother, and friend. Mark loved spending time with his family: golfing with his brother, playing games with the kids (whether they were his or not), sharing jokes with everyone, watching movies with the grandkids, and laughing with his children over stand-up comics and Johnny Carson Show reruns. He was just as happy driving about running errands with his grandkids as he was target shooting with the guys, and he never turned down a opportunity to share a chat over a cheeseburger and milkshake. Mark especially cherished family vacations to Manitoulin Island, Ontario, and fondly reminisced of the time spent fishing with loved ones on Lake Kagawong.
To his children and grandchildren, Mark passed down a love of animals, an insatiable curiosity, and a loyalty to family. He will forever be remembered for his friendly demeanor and legacy of love.
Mark is survived by his wife JoAnn Crum, daughters Jennifer Daws (Jason) and Amanda Glynn, granddaughters Sydney, Eileen, and Gabrielle Glynn, sister Carol Crum, and a large, loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Vaughn Crum, and brother, Jerome Crum.
To help the family celebrate his life, you are invited to share memories - and jokes - during his visitation at Conner & Koch Funeral Home (92 W Franklin St. Bellbrook, OH 45305) on Sunday, July 10th, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Life Celebration Services will be held on Monday, July 11th, 2022 at 10:00 am at The Church at Eastmont (1380 Spaulding Rd. Dayton, OH 45432) with burial to follow at Byron Cemetery in Fairborn, Ohio.
