Ellen Furlong (Kirby)
So sorry for the families loss. I thought I posted this yesterday, but I don't see it so I am posting again. I know how hard it is to lose such a loving mother, grandmother and wife. She was a mother to so many St. Francis teen clubbers and we all share in your grief. It leaves me with a poem that was shared with me when my mom passed away and I want to share with you. It's a mothers poem but I'm sure that the grandkids can also relate.
My mother kept a garden, a garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things that gave my life it's start
She turned me to the sunshine and encouraged me to dream,
Fostering and nurturing the seeds of self-esteem...
And when the winds and rain came, she protected me enough-
But not too much because she knew I'd need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example always taught me right from wrong-
Markers for my pathway that will last a lifetime long.
I am her legacy-
And I hope today she feels the love reflected from me.
So sorry for your loss to the entire Carder family. She is loved by many and she will always be with you.
