Mary Therese Gookin (Sell)'s Obituary
Mary Therese (63) of Dayton passed away in Miamisburg on February 1, 2020. Mary Therese was born in Pittsburgh, Ohio on September 6th, 1956. She was an independent, spirited woman, who obtained a bachelor’s degree, worked as a marketing researcher in the field of water quality monitoring and then launched her own highly successful marketing research business.
Mary Therese was fearless, bold, tenacious, compassionate and loving. She lived life “all in”, never holding back and never backing down from a challenge. There were many things she was passionate about, but nothing more so than her love for God, her family and the people around her. She was an avid person of prayer, constantly lifting her family, her friends and all those she met to the Lord. She was limitless in her desire to tell people about God’s love for them. She hated to see people struggle and, whether they welcomed her or not, she often pushed into their lives: sometimes angering people and sometimes making a life changing difference. Her nephew Sam, was spared through her efforts that were directed by Jesus. She prayed for Luke, Jessica and Kristen as well as many friends she had up until she went home. She faced many obstacles and hardships in life, but she never lost sight of God’s love for her. In the days before she went home in Glory, she was asked how she was feeling and she declared, grinning ear to ear, “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!” She will be dearly missed but was a faithful servant and prayer warrior all the way till the end.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Mary Louise (Leonards) and Sylvester Sell and brother, David Sell. Mary Therese is survived by her sister; Kathryn Sell, nieces & nephews; Sam, Luke and Kristin Sell, and Jessica Chambers, cousins; Patty Sell and Leo (Marla) Sell, very special friends; Jennifer (Paul) Santoro, Cathy (Fred) Miller, Deb Anderson and Stephanie Roby, along with her amazing church family that she held very near and dear to heart.
To help her family and friends celebrate her life, you are invited to share during her Life Celebration Visitation at Christ's Church (3370 Upper Bellbrook Rd, Sugarcreek Township, OH 45305) on Saturday, February 8, 2020 beginning at 11:30 am, with burial to follow immediately after at Bellbrook Cemetery (3939 Upper Bellbrook Rd, Bellbrook, OH 45305).
