Mary Jean (Penewit) Freese's Obituary
A fiercely strong, independent woman, Mary Jean "Jeanie" (Penewit) Freese, age 83, of Springboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 30th, 2021.
Jean was born on December 20th, 1937 to Howard and Mary (Volkanand) Penewit. She was always a very active and hard working woman, and it started when she was young. She played sports throughout her time at Bellbrook High School, and ended up being crowned Homecoming Queen. After completing high school and receiving her college certification, she entered the work force. She did many jobs through the years, never shying away from hard work, and most recently worked as a Cashier for Springboro Hardware.
Jeanie enjoyed attending Springboro Baptist Church, her faith being the most important thing in her life, with her beloved pets as a close second. She always had a love for animals, and enjoyed many dear companions over the years. Jean had a beautiful singing voice. Her husband, Dale, would often harmonize with her while they danced to 50's classics, their favorite of which were sung by Elvis. She enjoyed traveling too, from the beaches of Hawaii and Florida to the pacific coastline of California and Oregon, she loved to explore and get away. She and Dale were even able to enjoy a long road trip to the west, seeing the Grand Canyon, but otherwise stopping wherever they wanted along the way. She also did a fair amount of crafting and projects; sewing, crocheting, basket weaving, and making cards, just to name a few. She was a true lady, a good mom, and a godly woman.
Mary leaves behind her children, Dori (Kent) Baxter, Tina Wisneski, Jackie (Darryl) Layman, David (Christa) Freese, grandchildren, Eli, Mary, Alex, Cole, Jared, Ashley, Emily, Allie, and Ben, 12 great-grandchildren, siblings, Sharon (Bill) and Cal (Naomi), and her beloved cats, Princess and Midnight.
To help the family celebrate her life, you are invited to attend a Life Celebration Graveside Service on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at 1:00pm at Bellbrook Cemetery.
