Mary H. Weston's Obituary
Mary Helen Weston, age 79, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, December 19th, 2021.
Mary was born in Hancock, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula on May 17th, 1942 to Jennie (Soine) and John Romppainen. She spent her childhood in Hancock and was raised with her brother, as well as many foster children that her parents took care of. Mary graduated from Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago in 1963 with a degree in Nursing. She loved being a nurse; It was more than a job for her, it was truly a calling, and she loved the people and the opportunity to serve others. She worked as a nurse for many years, usually part time, but still left a big impact.
Mary was involved in a nurse and service organization in Illinois, Hannah's Treasure Chest, church circles, golf leagues, and book clubs. She was often volunteering and giving to help others. She loved to travel, especially on cruises with her husband, and was able to go to interesting and unique places all over the world. She also loved to golf, enjoying not just the game, but the chance to spend time with friends and loved ones. She also enjoyed snow skiing, tennis, boating on Lake Michigan, playing Mahjong, and doing puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Weston, parents John and Jennie, and brother John Romppainen. Mary is survived by four children, Suzanne Weston, Craig Weston (Hoa), Jill Weston, and Kim Harman (Landon), as well as five grandchildren, Alex (Matt) and their daughter Winnie, CJ, Kyle, Nicholas, and Josh.
A life celebration honoring Mary's life and legacy will take place at a future date.
