Naomi Catherine Penewit (Ferguson)'s Obituary
Penewit, Naomi C.
A lifelong resident of Bellbrook, passed away Thursday December 24th, 2015 at her home. She was born on May 21, 1922 in Beavercreek to Mary (Shoup) and Harry Ferguson, one of eighteen children. Naomi was enthusiastic about Bellbrook sports, especially basketball, and could be observed cheering and volunteer coaching from the stands during games. She throroughly enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids play sports. She was an avid reader, particularly of the Dayton Daily News and Xenia Gazette, which she did every day cover to cover. Naomi enjoyed her Canasta card club and the garden club, where she developed quite a talent for growing her roses. Above all else, she loved her family and her home. Naomi and her late husband, “J.C.”, “June”, loved to entertain with cookouts, family dinners and gatherings of all kinds. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by seventeen brothers and sisters. Naomi is survived by her daughter Cathy Guess (Steve); son John C., Jr. (Shelley); daughter Ann Gibson (Stan); six grandchildren Mike (Renee), C.C. (Chip), John III, Joe, Sarah (Jim), and Kaitlin, seven great-grandchildren Garrett, Brady, Grant, Casey, Shelby, Lauren, John IV “J.C.”; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday Dec. 29th from 5-8 pm at CONNER & KOCH Life Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook (937-848-6651). Life celebration services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday at CONNER & KOCH with Rev. Darryl Fairchild officiating. Interment in Bellbrook Cemetery.
